Assembly Judiciary Committee passes bill for 50 more judgeships

The Appropriations Committee will next take up the bill, introduced by Assembly Member Jay Obernolte (R-Hesperia), who said the state has a shortage of 170 judges.

California came one step closer to getting 50 more superior court judges Tuesday as AB 2108 passed unanimously through the state Assembly Judiciary Committee.

The bill, which would disperse additional judges to various courts throughout the state in fiscal year 2021-2022, depending on need, was introduced by Assembly Member Jay Obernolte, R-Hesperia.
