Becerra joins other AGs in requesting FTC nationwide non-compete ban

Non-compete provisions, which prevent employees from working for their employer’s competitor or starting a similar trade, inhibit wage growth, reduce competition, and harm consumers, according to a letter signed by several attorneys general and submitted Tuesday to the Federal Trade Commission.

In a bid to compel the federal government to match California’s employee-friendly labor rules, state Attorney General Xavier Becerra urged the Federal Trade Commission Thursday to enforce a nationwide ban on non-compete provisions in employment contracts.
