US judge grants stay in AB 5 trucking class action

Proceedings in the class action, filed in the Southern District by a group of drivers in opposition to the newly implemented state Assembly Bill 5, are stayed until the 9th Circuit either grants or rejects Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s request to halt a preliminary injunction imposed against the labor law.

While the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals considers the case, a federal trial judge granted a temporary ceasefire Tuesday requested jointly by the California Trucking Association and Attorney General Xavier Becerra.
