$850M set aside by the DOJ to combat coronavirus

The DOJ is inviting local, state and tribunal public safety agencies to apply for a grant to combat COVID-19 related problems which includes addressing medical needs of correctional inmates and distributing resources to hard-hit areas.

The U.S. Department of Justice made $850 million available for public safety agencies nationwide to combat costs resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, which includes paying law enforcement personnel overtime and addressing medical needs of incarcerated inmates housed in state, local and tribal lockups.
