Initiative to amend Constitution to guarantee bail fails to make ballot

A referendum on SB 10, that would eliminate bail, will be decided by voters in November.

California voters will have only one measure on their November ballots giving them the option to overturn a law that would end cash bail, after a similar ballot initiative that attempted to amend the state Constitution failed to receive enough signatures, the Secretary of State's office announced Thursday.

Both proposed initiatives were submitted by Thomas W. Hiltachk of Bell, McAndrews & Hiltachk LLP in Sacramento.
