Firm leader tries to avoid layoffs but hunkers down with 20% pay cut

Downey Brand LLP, Sacramento’s largest law firm, has slashed salaries of attorneys and staff by 20% until the end of July and equity partners may end up taking larger hits, managing partner Scott L. Shapiro said Friday.
