NASA’s JPL agrees to $10 million deal in age discrimination suit

The lawsuit arose out of an allegation that JPL would lay off and then rehire employees in a way that discriminated against people over 40 years of age, according to court documents.

NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory has settled a lawsuit by agreeing to create a $10 million fund for members of a class of employees who complained of age discrimination.

JPL, located in Pasadena, also agreed to hire an equal opportunity monitor, a diversity director and a layoff coordinator, according to the settlement reached with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which was announced Friday.
