Judge rules lifeguards don’t have to wait for similar union dispute decision pending in 9th Circuit

Southern District Judge Dana M. Sabraw refused to pause a lawsuit filed by a group of lifeguards suing the California State Law Enforcement Agency for forcing them to remain union members until June 2023.

A federal judge refused to pause a class action filed by a group of seasonal lifeguards challenging their union for refusing to release them.

The California State Law Enforcement Agency wanted the case put on hold until a similar case is decided by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
