Video arraignments launched in nation’s largest county court system

The program was conceived and tested in two weeks, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court Presiding Judge Kevin C. Brazile, who gave a video address prior to the launch.

LOS ANGELES — A video arraignment program via teleconferencing software WebEx was launched Tuesday in the nation’s largest county court system after a month of significant reductions in processes and services in response to the spread of the coronavirus.

The program was conceived and tested in two weeks, according to Los Angeles County Superior Court Presiding Judge Kevin C. Brazile, who gave a video address prior to the launch.
