Lassen County judge cites victims’ rights, lack of virus cases in adopting bail schedule, reminds prosecutors they can object
“Protection of the public, victims’ rights and the safety of the victim should not be displaced because of COVID-19 without careful consideration,” said Presiding Judge Anthony R. Mallery.
In Lassen County, where the two largest employers are state and federal prisons, Superior Court Presiding Judge Anthony R. Mallery issued an order invoking the Victim's Bill of Rights and reminding prosecutors several times they could object to zero bail if they feel a defendant is a public safety threat.
