New statewide legal battle brews over homeless, hotels

Los Angeles County on Thursday sued the City of Norwalk for trying to block Gov. Gavin Newsom's Project Roomkey plan.

LOS ANGELES -- Gov. Gavin Newsom has shown no qualms about battling cities he believes are standing in the way of his statewide goals, singling out Huntington Beach in a fight over affordable housing and recently intervening in a similar lawsuit against San Mateo.

But a new legal battle is brewing as a result of the pandemic that could be even messier, and it involves Newsom's plan to move homeless people into 15,000 hotel rooms. <...
