Governor sued over virus relief for immigrants in the US illegally

The lawsuit claims federal and state law bar unemployment insurance provided to people in the country illegally and allowing nonprofit groups to handle distribution make it an unconstitutional gift.

Gov. Gavin Newsom was sued Thursday to block $75 million in coronavirus relief to people who entered the United States illegally and do not qualify for unemployment benefits.
