Attorney conspired to pay FBI agent, DOJ warrant alleges

The lawyer involved in the scheme, only identified as CW1, or cooperating witness 1, received his license to practice law in 2016 and has ties to an organized crime syndicate, the Department of Justice said.

A California lawyer with ties to an organized crime syndicate conspired to pay a former FBI agent more than $200,000 in exchange for sensitive law enforcement information and help defusing investigations, according to an affidavit for the agent's arrest.
