Santa Clara County clears marijuana convictions without appearances

Prosecutors said the collaborative effort with the public defender’s office eliminates the need to clear records individually.

More than 11,500 marijuana conviction records were expunged or reduced in Santa Clara County Superior Court this week.

The action was part of a months-long collaborative effort between the district attorney's and the public defender's offices to clear criminal records for offenses that no longer violate state law.
