State Bar sues online attorney referral service, warning lawyers who used it

Attorneys who have accepted referrals from LegalMatch could, therefore, be in trouble since there are no disclaimers on its website or social media saying that it is not certified by the bar, according to the complaint.

The State Bar sued an online lawyer referral service in San Francisco, saying it provides services without proper certification.

Lawyer referral services in California can only recommend attorneys who meet the bar's standards for practice, the bar's lawsuit states.
