Bill would stop wage law violators from using new name

A bill that aims to stop employers from committing wage theft by shutting down their business and reopening under a new name passed the Assembly Committee on Banking and Finance by seven votes Tuesday.

A bill that aims to stop employers from committing wage theft by shutting down their business and reopening under a new name passed the Assembly Committee on Banking and Finance by seven votes Tuesday.

Assembly Bill 3075 would require those filing for articles of incorporation to confirm they are not affiliated with employers who have an outstanding judgment for violating a wage order or provision of the Labor Code.
