California sues US Education Department over student loan forgiveness program
The case follows years of controversy over a 2007 program known as Public Loan Service Forgiveness. It is open to a wide variety of public sector employees and teachers as well as law enforcement personnel have attempted to tap into it.
Attorney General Xavier Becerra on Wednesday sued U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos over her decision not to allow teachers to access a student loan forgiveness program for public employees.
