Transportation workers seek post-reopening protections
Like other types of essential workers, transportation employees have continued to work through stay-at-home orders, and in many sectors safety protocols have developed to limit exposure to the coronavirus.
Creating federally mandated safety guidelines, providing hazard pay, and amending the federal HEROES Act are all necessary steps for ensuring the safety of transportation industry workers as the economy reopens, unions representing these workers told a hearing of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on Tuesday.
