US senators join across the aisle for more judges

U.S. senators say they will work across the aisle to add more federal judgeships as crushing caseloads overwhelm judicial officers, including in the Eastern District of California.

Citing crushing caseloads overwhelming federal courts, U.S. senators pledged to create more judgeships -- including in the Eastern District of California -- as part of an upcoming pandemic-relief bill.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, and California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the Democrat ranking member of the committee, said they would work together for a bipartisan plan.
