Interim federal public defender appointed in Central District of California
Cuauhtemoc Ortega is the first Latino to lead the office. He had been a deputy federal public defender since 2010.
Cuauhtemoc Ortega took on his new role Wednesday as the interim federal defender for the Central District of California.
He was sworn in by Chief District Judge Philip S. Gutierrez on Tuesday.
