Judge tosses virus claim by passengers on Princess cruise ship

The plaintiffs failed to show they were in a zone of danger. Nor did they show any physical manifestation of their emotional distress over fear of contracting the disease.

Passengers aboard the ill-fated Grand Princess weren't in the zone of danger because they did not manifest physical symptoms of their fear of contracting COVID-19, a U.S. judge ruled Tuesday.

Nor did plaintiffs Eva and Ronald Weissberger show they were at immediate risk of physical harm enough to recover damages from alleged negligent infliction of emotional distress, U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner found.
