Government stimulus has held off bankruptcies — for now

Attorneys for debtors and creditors are surprised that the expected wave has not yet come, despite some high-profile Chapter 11 filings.

Recent high profile bankruptcy filings seemed to confirm the worst: The wave has begun.

But overall, bankruptcy filings are down nationally and in California, as the worst may be yet to come, according to U.S. Bankruptcy Court statistics.
