In a sweeping antitrust hearing gathering the heads of the technology industry's most powerful players, the chief executives of Amazon and Facebook were unable to guarantee to lawmakers Wednesday they did not engage in anticompetitive practices that might lead to further investigations over their alleged monopolies in the online commerce and communications markets.
