DA sponsored bill to remove outdated handgun models from use moves forward

Gun rights advocates have largely opposed the existing law, claiming a requirement to micro-stamp the make, model and serial number on each fired shell casing is nearly impossible to meet.

Legislation that would require the California attorney general to remove outdated handgun models from the roster of those certified for sale each time a new compliant model is manufactured is being touted by its supporters as a solution to reducing gun fatalities in the state.
