Democrats, Republicans join to nix bill opposed by oil and gas industry

Industry groups claim AB 345 would have led to increased litigation and interfered with a rule-making process already underway through Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration. These arguments swayed just enough votes to prevent the measure from passing out of the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee. The vote was 5-4.

Democrats joined Republicans in defeating a bill opposed by the oil and gas industry Wednesday.

Industry groups claim AB 345 would have led to increased litigation and interfered with a rule-making process already underway through Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration. These arguments swayed just enough votes to prevent the measure from passing out of the Senate Natural Resources and Water Committee. The vote was 5-4.
