Business groups want private right of action deleted from labor bills

Groups like the California Chamber of Commerce have long pushed to strike private right of action clauses from proposed bills, but the pandemic has changed the tenor of their arguments.

As Republican leaders push for a federal bill that would give employers a shield from COVID-19 liability, business interest groups in California are eying the same protections while using a less obvious approach, according to state policymakers.
