The U.S. economy was still staggering from the Great Recession when DuClos, now a Sidley Austin partner representing private equity investors, got his start in New York in the world of capital markets and mergers and acquisitions. He's since been at firms in London, San Francisco and Los Angeles and he said that one of the lessons learned from the 2007-2009 downturn was that some acted too quickly to trim payrolls.
