9th Circuit reverses antitrust ruling against Qualcomm

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found Qualcomm’s dominant market position is the result of superior products and practices.

A U.S. appeals court on Tuesday reversed a Federal Trade Commission antitrust victory that threatened to upend Qualcomm's lucrative licensing business.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that Qualcomm has no duty to license patents to rivals and its dominant market position is the result of superior products and practices in the modem chip market.
