Patent holding company wins $506.2M verdict against Apple for infringement

The verdict is big win for Irell & Manella LLP and McKool Smith PC, which tried the case for the plaintiff, a holding company called PanOptis Patent Management LLC created with patents from Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., LG Electronics, and Panasonic Corp. and owned by Brevet Capital.

A federal jury in Texas awarded $506.2 million in damages Tuesday to a licensing company that sued Apple for infringing multiple patents on 4G LTE technology used in iPhones, iPads and watches.
