Judge removes OC DA from rape prosecution for seeking dismissal of charges

Orange County Superior Court Judge Gregory Jones ordered District Attorney Todd Spitzer’s prosecutors to turn over evidence to the state attorney general to proceed with the case against a surgeon and his wife.

A state court judge disqualified the Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer office involvement in the prosecution of a rape case against a Newport Beach surgeon and his wife, citing ethical issues over Spitzer's move to drop the charges after inheriting the case from his predecessor.
