LA County supervisors to pay $1.35M for misusing public funds on campaigns

Under the terms of the settlement, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and the state will each receive $600,000. The remaining $150,000 will pay the fees for the prevailing law firm, Bell, McAndrews & Hiltachk.

The California Fair Political Practices Commission announced on Thursday a $1.35 million settlement with the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors for misusing public funds on campaigns.

The settlement stems from a pair of tax measures approved by voters. Measure H, a sales tax measure to address homelessness, passed in a special election in 2017. Measure M, relating to groundwater, passed in the 2018 general election.
