Drug makers not liable for city’s needle clean-up, lawyers argue

Denying fault for those that get addicted to street drugs after being prescribed prescription medication, McKesson lawyer Christian Pistilli argued additional expenses incurred by San Francisco to address rampant drug use is simply part of the city's existing duties to maintain public services.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Drugmakers, distributors and pharmacies are not on the hook for costs related to responding to the opioid crisis since they did not directly cause any damage, their attorneys told a federal judge Thursday.
