Attorneys concerned about more LA court continuances
Juvenile delinquency suspects who normally go from arrest to hearing within 24 or 48 hours now must wait a week, according to the orders issued Thursday. Lawyers who resolve landlord–tenant disputes and whose cases have been under a moratorium for most of the past six months now face another freeze through continuances until Oct 8.




More continuances have been ordered in Los Angeles County Superior Court for juvenile delinquency and dependency as well as criminal and civil cases despite a backlog of 7,000 criminal cases that must be tried before their legal deadlines, Presiding Judge Kevin C. Brazile announced.
