LA judge to lead county’s criminal justice initiative
The initiative was launched with the creation of the Alternatives to Incarceration Work Group, which the county supervisors requested in February 2019 to address the cycle of incarceration of people who struggle with homelessness, poverty, mental illness and substance abuse.




Superior Court Judge Songhai D. Miguda-Armstead was picked to lead Los Angeles County's Alternatives to Incarceration initiative.
The judge plans to retire from the bench to assume the new role.
