Postmates must pay $10M in arbitration fees from courier claims

he couriers who filed the arbitration claims were required to sign the company's Fleet Agreement in order to work for the company. A provision in the agreement stated drivers had to resolve disputes with Postmates through arbitration instead of a lawsuit.

Postmates must pay $10 million in arbitration fees for more than 5,000 claims couriers filed against the company last year, a 9th Circuit Court of Appeal panel ruled Tuesday. The claims, which were all filed within a two-month span, alleged the company misclassified the couriers as independent contractors.
