Governor signs bill to ban all-white corporate boards in California

Opponents say the bill is unconstitutional and racist. Others say it is necessary to ensure diversity.

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill Wednesday that would make all-white corporate boards prohibited in California. Opponents say the bill is unconstitutional and racist. Others say it is necessary to ensure diversity.

"When we talk about racial justice, we talk about empowerment, we talk about power. We need to talk about seats at the table," Newsom said at a virtual signing event.
