Defense attorneys back bondsmen for overturn of law to end cash bail

The attorneys say the state should instead rely on a 2018 1st District Court of Appeal ruling that held judges must consider a defendant’s ability to pay when setting bail.

Defense attorneys have given the bail bonds industry some added leverage behind its effort to defeat Proposition 25 on the November ballot and keep California's cash bail system in place.
