Governor signs fewest bills in 15 years, ending chaotic session

A chaotic legislative year ended with Gov. Gavin Newsom signing bills related to courts, prisons and labor on his deadline day.

The governor signed about 360 total bills in 2020. This is the fewest in at least 15 years and less than half the 870 bills he signed into law in 2019.
