California DAs settle with sunscreen company over reef safe label

Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Patrick M. Broderick also permanently enjoined the company from making the unsubstantiated claims in California that the ingredients in its products are biodegradable and have no toxic impact on sea life.

Tropical Seas Inc., a Florida corporation that manufactures sunscreen products claiming to be nontoxic to sea life and safe for coral reefs, agreed to pay $50,000 to settle a suit brought by 22 California district attorneys.
