US Supreme Court to consider warrantless pursuits for misdemeanors

The conviction for driving under the influence of a man chased into his Sonoma home after a traffic stop was affirmed by the California Supreme Court, but his attorneys persuaded high court justices to take the case.

In an effort to resolve a long-running dispute, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed Monday to consider whether law enforcement officers can pursue suspects in misdemeanor offenses into homes without a warrant.

The conviction for driving Lange v. California, 20-18.
