$4.5M in uncashed, unreturned checks in LA water bill case

Brian Kabateck of Kabateck LLP, appointed as new class counsel after resignations and allegations of fraud in the $67 million settlement, said the uncashed checks lead him to suspect a company tasked with distributing them may have erred in delivering them.

LOS ANGELES -- Some $4.5 million in refund checks have not been cashed or returned by overcharged customers, class counsel in the Department of Water and Power faulty water billing suit said in court Monday.
