Regulator fines Uber $53M, demands assault claims data

An administrative law judge asked Uber to provide data regarding claims arising out of incidents during its ride services. California Public Utilities Commission's Judge Robert Mason said Monday that Uber withheld information and failed to comply with his ruling, as required by state law.

California's utility regulator fined Uber Technologies Inc. $59 million for failing to comply with orders to turn over information regarding sexual assault claims made by or against its workers.
