OC judge will handle suit against LA County courts
Filed by Public Counsel last week, the lawsuit seeks declaratory and injunctive relief, requesting Los Angeles County courthouses close to all in-person appearances in traffic and unlawful detainer matters.
An Orange County Superior Court judge will preside over a lawsuit filed against the Los Angeles County Superior Court over its practice of requiring in-person appearances during the pandemic, a court-issued filing stated this week.
"The court believes that in the interest of justice the case should be heard by a judge from the Superior Court of another county," the order reads.
