Newsom wins 16th clemency OK from high court
The approval Tuesday comes as the high court is working through a backlog of nearly 20 other requests, the most recent of which were filed by Newsom in early March. Newsom has secured approval on all 16 requests the court has finalized.




The California Supreme Court has granted a request from Gov. Gavin Newsom to commute a Los Angeles man’s 24-year sentence for robbery with a firearm enhancement, a decision that adds to Newsom’s perfect record of having the court approve his clemency requests for twice-convicted felons.
