Campaign fund soliciting among county employees not OK, judge says

U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam in Oakland found that issuing a temporary restraining order against enforcement of the law for some public employees would give Santa Clara County Deputy Public Defender Sajid Khan an unfair advantage in his campaign to unseat incumbent District Attorney Jeff Rosen.

A federal judge on Friday turned down a bid by some attorneys at the Santa Clara County public defender's office to block a state law that bans them from soliciting campaign contributions from other county employees.
