Their boots are made of caimans, and they want to keep it that way, say the plaintiffs in a lawsuit that challenges a 2019 state law aimed at barring the import and sale of certain animal skins in California starting Jan. 1.

The complaint filed Monday by Christopher D. Hughes with Nossaman LLP in Sacramento and David E. Frulla with Kelley Drye & Warren LLP in Washington, D.C., argues AB 1260 is federally preempted.
