Bill aims to OK public nuisance suits against gun industry

The three co-authors said their legislation attempts to build on a New York law that attempts to get around a federal statute barring liability cases against gun manufacturers.

Three Democratic lawmakers introduced a bill Tuesday allowing public nuisance lawsuits against the gun industry.

But the authors said AB 1594 has been in the works for six months and isn't the bill Gov. Gavin Newsom called for last month in response to a Texas abortion law.
