Tie vote stalls confirmation of LA judge nominee
U.S. Magistrate Judge Kenly Kiya Kato was sharply questioned by Republican senators in February about a book review she wrote in law school that was critical of politically conservative Asian Americans.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Kenly Kiya Kato failed to garner enough votes on Thursday from the Senate Judiciary Committee to forward her nomination to the U.S. Senate for a Central District seat, though the tie vote during the first stop of the confirmation process doesn't rule out her appointment.
