University fires baseball coach accused of tolerating assault

The University of San Francisco had already fired an associate head coach accused of committing assault.

The University of San Francisco fired baseball coach Nino Giarratano Sunday, two days after three former baseball players filed a lawsuit in the Northern District Court of California against Giarratano, former associate head coach Troy Nakamura, the university and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The former players accused Giarratano and Nakamura of "persistent psychological abuse and repeated inappropriate sexual conduct."
