Surgeon who claimed retaliation in whistleblower case gets $2M

A jury leveled a $2 million judgment, not the $8 million sought, against Los Angeles County for a vascular surgeon who said he suffered retaliation after refusing to perform unnecessary surgery at Harbor UCLA Medical Center for another surgeon's financial gain.
After five weeks of proceedings, the jury on Tuesday awarded $2 million for economic damages but nothing for future losses or other damages.
